Welcome to the Fall 2021 Dining Preview

The 2021-2022 meal plans are designed to provide flexibility, value and convenience allowing students to experience the full range of on-campus dining locations. All resident students are required to be on a meal plan which is purchased on a per semester basis.

Students can begin signing up for a meal plan on 7/1/21 and will have until 9/3/21 to add/drop/change their meal plan.

For all resident freshman, University apartment and commuter students

Freshmen will automatically be assigned myGreatDane Meal Plan #1, but can choose myGreatDane Meal Plan #2 during the add/change period (the first 10 business days of the semester).

The myGreatDane Meal Plan will allow for a meal swipe during every scheduled meal period/7 days a week at Indigenous and State Quad dining rooms. Students can enjoy an all-you-care-to-eat dining experience during their meal period visit. Seating will be designed in accordance with New York State guidelines.

Declining balance funds called Discount Dollars are included with the myGreatDane Meal Plan and can be used in Campus Center retail venues where they will activate deep discounts off the menu board pricing. Up to $500 additional Discount Dollars can be added to your myGreatDane Meal Plan each semester.

For all non-freshman, University apartment and commuter students

The myFlex Meal Plan, with five (5) options and the ability to add more to your plan as you go, was designed so you have the freedom to eat when you want and where you want, with no restrictions at ourCampus Centerand satellite retail dining locations.

 

 The plan works as follows: 

  • The myFlex Meal Plan allows you to use your Discount Dollars like a declining balance account on your ID card. Discount Dollars can be used at all retail and resident dining locations for meals and beverages. Each time you use your ID card at a dining location, your meal plan’s Discount Dollars will get activated and the venue-specific discount (a 60% discount at resident dining rooms, 50% discount at campus/Sodexo retail brands and 30% discount at local/national retail brands) will be automatically calculated and the balance will be debited for your purchase. Your remaining Discount Dollars balance will appear on the register display and your receipt. Remember also your meal plan is tax free, so you will also be saving an additional 8% on all discounted sale prices. Please note that other campus funds will not activate these discounts, i.e., Munch Money, Podium, Campus Gold, F/S Dining Plan.

  • Up to $500 additional Discount Dollars can be added to your myFlex Meal Plan each semester.

For University apartment and commuter students

The myChoice Meal Plan offers University apartment and commuter students--who are not required to have a meal plan--the opportunity to explore and experience the benefits, variety and convenience of dining on campus with an abridged version of the myFlex Meal Plan. Unlike the myFlex plan, the myChoice plan does not allow additional Discount Dollars to be added and only one myChoice Plan can be purchased per semester

Munch Money

Munch Money is optional and does NOT come with a meal plan. Munch Money purchases are not subject to NYS sales tax. You can add Munch Money to purchase tax-free food/beverages at any campus dining location, 518 Market and vending machines. Munch Money can be added online at ualbanyid.com or on the Mobile ID App.
